Terms and Conditions

Reservations may be taken; however, bookings are not guaranteed until the cost of the stay has been received by The Norlands Hotel utilising the card used to make the booking.

Once a reservation is confirmed, a legally binding contract exists between the accommodation provider ‘The Norlands Hotel’ and the person named on the booking form.  A booking may be cancelled up to 7 days prior to the check in date. Any cancellations made after this time is liable for the full balance of the booking. Any guests failing to arrive will be liable for the total cost of their booking. Cancellation insurance is available, and it is recommended that guests cover themselves to avoid losses due to any unforeseen circumstances. To secure the reservation, card details will be taken at time of booking.

Payments for accommodation may be made by cash in GBP, debit card or credit card. We do not accept cheques, American Express or Diners Cards. Travellers using Commercial cards will be subject to a 3 percent surcharge.

The balance of monies due for accommodation will be debited 7 days prior to arrival date of the booking (unless agreed otherwise) at the end of the free cancellation period using the card used to make the booking. If the card is declined, the booking will be cancelled without further notification.

The proprietors of The Norlands Hotel reserve the right to cancel / terminate any booking where the conduct of a guest, or a member of the guests’ party has a detrimental effect on any other guest staying at The Norlands Hotel. Should it be necessary to terminate a booking early due to unacceptable behaviour, the full balance of the stay by the party will be due and no refund will be given.

Cancellation by The Norlands Hotel: The Norlands Hotel, Scarborough shall have the right at any time (giving such notice as possible to the guest) to cancel the accommodation without recourse or liability to the guest for any loss, damage or changes caused by circumstances outside its control including, without limitation, war or the threat of war, riot, civil strike, industrial dispute, pandemics.

The proprietors of The Norlands Hotel cannot accept responsibility for any losses incurred by guests while staying at The Norlands Hotel, unless the guest has handed the item in for safe custody.

Only guests named on the registration form are allowed in guest rooms. Any person found bringing other persons into the property will have their booking terminated with immediate effect but will remain liable for the full balance of their stay.

The proprietors of The Norlands Hotel cannot accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused to any vehicle parked on the property. All parking is carried out at the owners’ risk.

Our standard excess room cleaning charge is £150 plus the cost of any damages. These costs will be charged directly to your debit or credit card and action will be taken against you to recover any such costs and further losses we incur as a direct result of your behaviour. Lost keys will be charged at £50.00 PER key.

In the unlikely event that your room is double booked or The Norlands Hotel has to cancel your stay due to circumstances beyond our control, we will attempt to place you at a property of the same rating. If the offer made to you is not accepted, we will refund any monies paid to date with no further liability to you.

The Norlands Hotel will store luggage for guests arriving prior to the rooms being ready or for departing guests who are not leaving Scarborough until later that day, however, this is without liability for any items lost or damaged.

 Smoking or vaping or the use of any type of e-cigarette is not permitted within the bedrooms, guest house common areas or anywhere on the property and any guest found to, or believed to have been smoking or vaping in the property will be charged £100 for breaking this rule and will be required to leave the premises immediately. The booking will be terminated with no refund.

We do not accept pets at the property.

We take a zero-tolerance approach to any anti-social behaviour towards ourselves, our staff, our property and other guests. We will not hesitate to call the police to come and remove you from the hotel if you behave in an anti-social way and action will be taken against you.

The latest check in time is 20:30, if you do not arrive by this time, we will consider you as a no show and your entire reservation will be deemed cancelled. If you require a check in after 20:30, you must contact us in advance to mutually agree a suitable time which can be no later than 22:30.

Group bookings must be approved by the hotel owner in advance, and the lead booker will be contacted to discuss the nature of the booking. We reserve the right to refuse any group booking without explanation if we feel there is a risk to other guests comfort.

Any group that books separately in such a way to hide the group may be refused entry to the hotel or asked to leave the property without refund. Group bookings may be subject to a deposit and less flexible cancellation policies which will be confirmed in writing at the time of booking.
